Menu Location: Settings - Video -Video Set By Program
Enables the Video Monitoring Software program to automatically set the video parameters from within the program at startup or while it runs, as opposed to the user having to manually select some video parameters like image size and format.
Use Video Set By Program to set the video format so it remains the same after the program is re-started or switches program modes.
Good for at program startup, program will adjust image size, resolution, and format so one does not have to select it. When program runs it can change the video parameters e.g. when switching between Web Live Mode and Web Monitoring allowing both modes to have different image sizes and formats.
Allows the program to support some WDM video drivers that cannot change the video parameters programmatically by being able to disable this menu item, then selecting the video format manually with - Video Format.
See How to Select a Video Format to Use.
Enable Program to Set Video Parameters
Check if you want Video Monitoring Software program to set video parameters programmatically. Uncheck so program does not attempt to change parameters and hence return no error messages.
Enable this feature, click OK. If errors are reported for all formats selected here disable this feature and save configuration - then program will run without these types of video errors. If no errors are reported, leave it enabled and save the configuration - since the video driver supports the program making direct calls to change the video parameters.
Image Size
Enter the image size you would like to use now or bet set at program startup.
Resolution
Enter the resolution i.e. bits/pixel you would like to use now or be set at program startup. All settings are in the RGB format, not YUV etc.
OK
If Enabled by check mark above, click OK will change the video format immediately. If not Enabled above OK, will not change video format.
Notes:
Use Save Configuration, so settings will be effective at program startup.
Do not assume your video driver will not allow the program to set the video formats because you get an error message when you, Enable Program to Set Video Parameters. Try all the video formats from this menu item first to see if they work before disabling it. It just may be that the driver only supports RGB24 and not RGB32. So one only gets errors on RGB32, and it works on RGB24. Then set the format here to RGB24, and avoiding picking driver unsupported formats.
If this item is not enabled one ramification can be that Web Live Mode, can change the image size and format settings in the driver, and then upon return to Monitoring Mode the image size is changed, from the size the user set. Solution: try setting the image size and resolution to be same in both Configure Live Mode, and in Monitor Mode that you manually set through menu items Video Format and Video Source. For example when configuring Live Mode, one can choose the what image size to use, and what default resolution to use. Start Windows Media Encoder with LiveToLive1.asd file loaded, select menu item Encode, Properties, Compression, Advanced Button, select Image Size to use, and select Pixel Format to be Default. Click OK, and then File, Save, to save the changes to the LiveToLive1.asd configuration file. Solves image size change problems.
The size of image selected effects the size of captured video file which is uses disk space. The size of the captured video file effects how long it will take you to download the video file when are accessing the system remotely to review captured video files.
Once running in Monitoring Mode or Web Mode i.e. while capturing video one cannot change the size of the image. Stop Monitor or Web Mode then change the image size from Video Mode. The return to Monitor or Web Mode.
